Elizabeth Brown selected as Dishman McGinnis principal

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Bowling Green Independent superintendent Gary Fields has selected Elizabeth “Lizzie” Brown as the next principal of Dishman McGinnis Elementary.
According to the district, she was introduced to students and staff during a morning assembly on the last day of school Thursday, May 21, 2026.
Fields says, “Lizzie has been an invaluable asset to Dishman McGinnis for the last several years. Her expertise in instruction, combined with her passion for building a ‘school family,’ makes her the ideal leader to guide Dishman McGinnis into its next chapter. She knows the students, the staff, and has the vision to help everyone thrive.”
Brown is a National Board Certified Teacher with sixteen years of experience. She has been the Instructional Coach at Dishman McGinnis since 2020, and in this role, has helped bridge the gap between instructional standards and a student-first school culture. Prior to serving as the school’s Instructional Coach, she was a DMES classroom teacher for eight years.
As Instructional Coach and Teacher Leader, Brown has specialized in the implementation of Marzano’s Research-Based Instructional Practices, including the development of mastery scales and the transition to Standards-Based Grading. She has also been deeply committed to engaging staff through high-energy professional development and collaborative leadership.
Brown is a graduate of Bowling Green High School, with undergraduate and graduate degrees from Western Kentucky University, as well as a Masters of Arts in Education from the University of the Cumberlands.
Brown will officially begin her new role on July 1, 2026.
