GLASGOW, Ky. (Glasgow News 1) – Glasgow Common Council welcomed a K9 officer to its police force, according to Glasgow News 1.
Glasgow News 1 reports Officer Alex Mutter was paired with certified American Working Dogs and American K-9 Rico.
Chief Guy Howie said the pairing process with the k9 officer and the handler is meticulous because the dog lives with the officer, according to the report.
Howie said they conducted an interview process to determine which officer is suitable to be a K-9 handler.
Howie said the training of the K-9 units is paid for with seized illegal drug money.
“It’s not a burden on taxpayers, it’s a burden on drug dealers,” Chief said.
Glasgow Common Council will host a special-called council meeting on Tuesday, May 26, at 6 p.m.
