Michigan man allegedly steals vehicle in Nashville, arrested in Horse Cave

HORSE CAVE, Ky. – A Michigan man was arrested in Horse Cave after allegedly stealing a vehicle in Nashville.

According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police was contacted by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department regarding a stolen vehicle complaint.

MNPD told KSP that the owner’s cellphone was inside the vehicle, and a ping was in the Love’s Travel Stop parking lot at 4000 L and N Turnpike Road. MNPD says the surveillance footage of the scene was reviewed and identified a black male as a suspect.

Troopers located the vehicle in the parking lot and located the suspect inside.

According to the citation, troopers identified the suspect as 47-year-old Ousman Sallah, of Center Line, Michigan.

Troopers say they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

Sallah told troopers that he paid a man $100 in Nashville to borrow the car to drive to Michigan to renew his driver’s license.

Troopers say Sallah consented to a field sobriety test.

Following the test, troopers arrested Sallah and transported him to the Hart County Jail.

Sallah is charged with operating a vehicle with an expired operator’s license, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substance (189a.010(1e), first offense, and receiving stolen property $1,000 < $10,000

The investigation is ongoing.
