Glasgow man charged with fleeing police in multi-county pursuit

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Glasgow man is facing charges after allegedly crossing through multiple counties during a pursuit on Wednesday.

According to a uniform citation, the Glasgow Police Department observed a vehicle go airborne while entering South Fork Beaver Creek bridge just before 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say when they attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, it began to flee, leading to a vehicle pursuit.

Authorities say during this time, the vehicle tried to evade officers on several streets throughout Glasgow, along with disregarding around 17 stop signs and three traffic lights.

Police say the vehicle exited city limits and continued to flee through Barren County and into Metcalfe County.

Once the vehicle entered Edmonton, police say law enforcement boxed the vehicle in.

The driver, 23-year-old Alex Williams of Glasgow, was taken into custody.

Authorities say Williams had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages, and an open glass container with a small amount of suspected alcohol was located in the vehicle.

Williams was transported to the Barren County Detention Center, where Standard Field Sobriety Testing was conducted.

Authorities say Williams’ breath test measured at .140, and he was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for a blood draw.

Williams remains incarcerated on charges of first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), improperly on left side of road, disregard – fail to yield right of way, driving on a DUI suspended license, first offense, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, second offense, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited, operating a motor vehicle/motorcycle function without ignition interlock device, failure to produce insurance card, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, first offense, careless driving, driving too fast for traffic conditions, rear license not illuminated, no tail lamps, failure to illuminate head lamps, disregarding a stop sign and disregarding a traffic control device – traffic light.
