My Old Kentucky Throwdown supports local nonprofit through friendly competition
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Old Kentucky Throwdown Barista Tournament brought together 33 competitors from across the South.
Participants came from states including Alabama, Tennessee and Missouri to compete in the latte art competition.
Each contestant created their best latte art, with matchups judged by three judges across five categories: symmetry, color distribution, creativity, execution and presentation.
The winner received a $1,000 prize, with additional cash prizes awarded to competitors finishing second through eighth place.
Beyond the competition, the event also supported a local nonprofit. Proceeds were donated to The Hive Inc. in Bowling Green.
“They work directly with developmentally challenged adults and help get them back into the workforce,” said Beverage Director Ben Fox-Ezell.
The event featured a $10 entry fee for competitors, and Spencer’s hosted a raffle during the competition. Each raffle ticket cost $2, with all proceeds benefiting The Hive.
