Edmonson County now under burn ban

EDMONSON COUNTY, Ky. – Edmonson County is now under a burn ban, effective Tuesday morning.

According to a social media post by Edmonson County judge executive Ronald Scott Lindsey, the ban resulted after speaking with local fire chiefs and each fire district.

Officials say they looked at long-term forecasts for the next seven to 10 days, deciding on a burn ban to maintain safety in the community.

While the forecast does call for possible rain in the week, officials say the forecast states the local area is not expected to receive enough rain to make a noticeable difference in current drought conditions.

Lindsey says they will reevaluate the situation when they feel the area has received enough rain.
