Kentucky State Police investigate alleged assault at Madison Co. Detention Center

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police says it is investigating an alleged assault at the Madison County Detention Center.

Troopers say they were contacted on March 27  just before 8 a.m. in reference to an alleged assault that occurred at the Madison County Detention Center involving a detention center employee and an inmate.

Authorities say preliminary information indicates KSP was requested by local officials to investigate an incident involving a physical altercation between a deputy jailer and an inmate inside the facility.

Detectives responded to the scene and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing by KSP Post 7. Once the investigation is complete, authorities say the findings will be presented to the Madison County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.
