Major Bowling Green roadway project set to begin

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A major roadway project in Warren County is set to begin this week.
According to a release, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 says a widening project of U.S. 31-W Bypass will start Wednesday evening.
Crews will set up the construction zone and close lanes at approximately 7 pm through Thursday morning.
KYTC says the bypass will be reduced to one lane in each direction from Fairview Avenue to Park Street. A single left-turn lane will be maintained at the intersection of the bypass and Fairview Avenue.
Access to hospitals, medical facilities and businesses will remain open. Additional access points will be available.
The work zone is expected to be active through Fall 2027.
KYTC says the project will address issues on the U.S. 31-W Bypass corridor from the intersection with KY 234 north to Park Street. Left-turn lanes at the KY 234 intersection will be lengthened to increase capacity. A dedicated through lane, along with a lane for right turns and straight through movements, will also be added.
A center two-way left-turn lane will be added along the corridor, and a raised median will manage access near the KY 234 intersection.
Motorists should expect travel delays and increased traffic.
