Juvenile detained after false kidnapping report in Knox County

KNOX COUNTY, Ky. – A juvenile has been detained in relation to a false kidnapping report in Knox County.
According to a social media post by the Barbourville Police Department, chief Winston Tye stated that on Thursday, Knox County E-911 received a series of calls from an individual claiming they had been kidnapped and were on a bus on U.S. 25-E in Barbourville.
Police say they responded and located two Middlesboro Independent Schools buses in the area.
Authorities say traffic stops were conducted on both buses.
During the investigation, police say the individual responsible for making the calls was identified as a juvenile male. Police say the calls were determined to be a prank.
The juvenile was detained and transported to the Barbourville Police Department.
“Charges will be submitted to the Knox County Court designated worker and the Knox County Attorney’s Office for review,” police further stated.
