RICHMOND, Ky. –  Authorities say a vehicle struck a Kentucky State Police cruiser after running a traffic light on Thursday in Madison County.

The Kentucky State Police says it was notified just before 7:15 a.m. Thursday of a two-vehicle collision on Lexington Road near the Interstate 75 exit 90 overpass in Madison County.

According to troopers, a preliminary investigation reveals a marked KSP patrol vehicle driven by trooper Albert LaGrange was traveling west on Lexington Road and approaching the intersection at the exit 90 overpass.

Troopers say a 2014 silver Chevrolet Malibu driven by 24-year-old Taijua Robinson of Richmond, Kentucky was traveling east on Lexington Road and attempting to make a left turn onto I-75 when the wreck occurred.

Video footage obtained during the investigation shows the marked KSP patrol vehicle had a green traffic signal as it approached the intersection, while the Chevrolet crossed into the intersection after disregarding a traffic control device, according to KSP.

As a result, authorities say Robinson was transported to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital for treatment of possible minor injuries.

LaGrange was transported to Baptist Health Richmond for treatment of possible minor injuries.

The collision remains under investigation. KSP was assisted by the Richmond Police Department, Madison County EMS and the Richmond City Fire Department.
