Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Ceremony to be hosted at The Capitol

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The Warren County Public Library is hosting the South Central Kentucky Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Ceremony on Saturday, March 14, at 5 p.m. at the Capitol.
Organizers say the event will recognize outstanding creative work by middle and high school students from across the region.
According to the library, the ceremony celebrates regional winners of the prestigious Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, one of the nation’s longest-running and most respected recognition programs for creative teens. Founded in 1923, the awards have encouraged young artists and writers for more than a century, providing opportunities for exhibition, publication, scholarships and national recognition.
Doors will open at 5 p.m. for gallery viewing, and the awards ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, organizers say.
The Warren County Public Library says it has served as the chair organization for the south-central Kentucky region this year, coordinating the regional awards process and exhibition. Students submitted creative work in a wide range of visual art and writing categories. Entries were reviewed by a panel of regional artists, writers and creative professionals.
Regional awards include Gold Key, Silver Key and Honorable Mention distinctions. Gold Key works automatically advance to national adjudication.
Selected pieces from this year’s regional winners are currently on display throughout the Capitol and will remain available for public viewing throughout the month of March. The exhibition showcases the creativity, skill, and perspective of young artists and writers from across south-central Kentucky.
The public is encouraged to visit the Capitol throughout March to experience the exhibition and view the selected works by regional student artists and writers.
