1 dead in fatal Letcher County house fire

McROBERTS, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatal fire in Letcher County.

KSP responded to a report of a structure fire on KY Highway 343 in McRoberts on Saturday morning, according to a release.

Troopers and first responders arrived at a home that was fully engulfed in flames.

Emergency personnel extinguished the fire.

KSP says a search of the home was conducted and remains were found.

The remains are believed to be those of the homeowner, 70-year-old Robert Mullins.

KSP says no foul play is suspected.

The remains were taken to Frankfort for autopsy.

The investigation is ongoing.
