Glasgow man charged with assault following altercation involving a rifle

BARREN COUNTY – A Barren County man is charged with assault after a fight involving a rifle.
According to a uniform citation, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Old Bowling Green Road in Smiths Grove (Barren County) to a report of a physical fight with a possible firearm involved on Feb. 8.
Deputies say they located a male victim, Dustin Waid, at the scene, who sustained a severe injury to the left side of his face.
Barren/Metcalfe EMS evaluated the man. The man had a severely swollen eye and dried blood on his lips, according to the uniform citation.
Waid and his brother-in-law, Leon Orange, told deputies that 34-year-old Marcus Edison, of Glasgow, arrived at Waid’s home and began arguing over a vehicle the victim was working on at his automotive shop.
Orange and Waid told deputies they had been drinking and “having a good time” at another location when Edison became upset and started hitting them.
The brother-in-law said he ran away from the house, and Waid later stopped to pick him up. The men then drove to Waid’s home on Old Bowling Green Road.
According to the uniform citation, Waid told deputies that Edison arrived at Waid’s home a few minutes later.
Waid told deputies that he did not answer the door and had a semi-automatic rifle in his hand, but did not point it at Edison
Orange told deputies he ran out of the house and called 911.
Waid told deputies that Edison walked onto his porch, where he and Edison argued before the incident turned physical. Waid was struck in the face by Edison, according to the uniform citation.
Waid was transported to TJ Samson Community Hospital. He sustained several facial fractures and his jaw was broken in four places.
Detective Adam Bow says Edison agreed to a voluntary interview on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Following the interview, Edison was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, according to Bow.
Edison was lodged at the Barren County Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
