Auburn police warn public of rental property scam

AUBURN, Ky. – Auburn authorities warn the public about an active rental property scam.

“It has been brought to our attention that a rental property scam is currently circulating. Individuals are copying legitimate rental property listings and reposting them with fraudulent contact information that does not belong to the actual property owners,” the Auburn Police Department said in a statement.

APD asks the public to use caution when searching for rental properties and to not send money, deposits, or other payments before verifying the listing.

“Scammers often use attractive listings and false contact information to trick unsuspecting individuals into sending money for properties they do not own or have permission to rent,” according to APD.
