Community Closet offers confidence and connection for local women
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – For therapist Ashley Vicari, healing goes beyond the therapy room.
It extends into community, connection and helping people feel comfortable in their own skin.
After more than a decade working with women navigating postpartum changes, eating disorder recovery and body image struggles, Vicari created the Community Closet: a free, welcoming space where women can try on clothing and take home outfits that make them feel confident at no cost. No client relationship is required to participate.
The closet offers multiple sizes and styles and is part of a larger effort to foster community. Free support groups, message boards for sharing items such as baby clothes, and weekly yoga sessions all aim to strengthen connections and support mental health.
“Something that may seem small can be incredibly impactful for someone’s mental health,” Vicari said.
The Community Closet is open Monday through Friday during business hours and accepts donations of new or gently used clothing.
Vicari’s practice is located at 1719 Ashley Circle, Suite 101, Bowling Green, KY, where community members are welcome to stop by, call ahead or reach out to learn more about counseling, yoga or the closet.
