BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Two people have been charged with criminal child abuse in Bowling Green.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded for a welfare check at a residence Monday evening.

Police say a caller stated she was concerned for a toddler’s welfare. Authorities say the caller stated she had been told by the child’s mother, identified as 22-year-old Nevaeh Grant of Bowling Green, that Grant’s 3-year-old had been left alone by a male, identified as 32-year-old Inoyouie Booker of Bowling Green.

According to police, the caller stated she had arrived to pick up the child, and Booker was present upon her arrival.

Authorities say the caller found the child strapped inside of a car seat in the corner of a bedroom with a broken playpen on top of him. The citation states the caller removed the play pen and saw the child had been left without a diaper change.

Police say the caller removed the child and took the child to her residence, where she contacted law enforcement.

Authorities say the child’s mother, Grant, stated she had left both of her children in Booker’s care.

According to the citation, Booker told officers he placed the child in the car seat since Grant regularly did so to restrain the child. Police say Grant denied doing so.

Booker and Grant were taken into custody and remain at the Warren County Regional Jail.

Both are charged with third-degree criminal abuse of a child 12 or under.
