MORGANTOWN, Ky., The Butler County Judge Executive’s Office is providing free weather radios to the community.

According to the Judge Executive’s Office, the county received a grant for $154,000 to distribute 5,000 weather radios to residents.

The radios can be powered by electricity and batteries, so even if a storm were to knock out power, the device can still provide information.

Judge Executive Tim Flener believes the radios are essential to provide emergency weather information to the community.

“People are going to know where the weather is and in a moment’s notice now, with this normal, whether it’s pretty well spot on. They track the weather that is coming across the county so you can get prepared before the weather ever gets to your home,” said Flener.

The Judge Executive also added that they have given away around half of their stock, and you can get one at the Judge Executive’s office located at the Butler County Courthouse if you live in the Butler County area.
