Man pulled from building charged with arson, burglary after Laurel County fire

LONDON, Ky. – One man is in police custody and is facing charges following an early morning fire in London.
The London Police Department held a press conference Tuesday afternoon, with Maj. Bobby Day with London police confirming multiple new details.
Day says around 4:50 a.m. Tuesday, the London City Fire Department observed smoke coming from the eaves of a structure and immediately responded. Upon arrival, Day says fire personnel confirmed an active commercial structure fire.
Additional personnel were dispatched to the scene, including EMS, the London Police Department, a rescue squad and additional fire personnel.
While first responders were en route, firefighters conducted interior operations and located an adult male in the structure. He was transported for medical treatment, according to Day.
The London Police Department conducted an investigation and obtained arrest warrants, charging 56-year-old Scottie Seeley of London with second-degree arson and third-degree burglary, Day says.
Day confirmed Seeley was identified as the male subject pulled from the building.
Upon release from medical care, he will be transported to the Laurel County Detention Center.
Additional details are not being released at this time. This investigation is ongoing.
