1 dead in fatal Ohio County fire

CENTERTOWN, Ky. – A fire claimed the life of one person in Ohio County Sunday.

According to a release, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office responded to a house fire with a possible victim in Centertown at approximately 2:15 pm.

Upon arrival, first responders located a body inside the home.

The victim has been identified as Nathan Woolen of Centertown.

A death investigation is ongoing.

The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office says preliminary results show the cause of death as carbon monoxide poisoning. Officials say it is believed a heat source malfunctioned, which caused a spark that ignited the house fire.

The Centertown Fire Department, Hartford Fire Department, and the Ohio County Coroner’s Office assisted OCSO at the scene.
