Bowling Green man allegedly steals vehicle, police pursuit ends on riverbank

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man allegedly stole a vehicle and attempted to flee police on Wednesday.
Bowling Green Police Department Public Information Officer Ronnie Ward says the department received a FLOCK notification on December 31.
The notification was for a stolen vehicle that had driven into Bowling Green on KY-185.
Ward says officers located the car and attempted to execute a traffic stop. The driver allegedly fled police.
Officers later located the vehicle on a dry creek bed, and the suspect allegedly fled from them along a riverbank.
The suspect attempted to walk up from the river and was arrested.
Ward says the Unmanned Aerial System (Drone) Team assisted in locating the suspect.
The suspect, Cody Slaughter, 32, of Bowling Green, was transported to the Warren County Regional Jail.
Slaughter is charged with:
- Theft by Unlawful Taking (auto) $1,000<$10,000
- Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd degree (motor vehicle)
- Criminal Mischief, 2nd Degree
- Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence – 1st Offense
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st degree 3rd or > offense (methamphetamine)
- Resisting arrest
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, 2nd Degree Hallucinogen
- Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess
The investigation is ongoing.
