Morgantown Mission hosts community Christmas dinner, feeds over 200 people
MORGANTOWN, Ky. – The Morgantown Mission is bringing the community together for Christmas fellowship.
Volunteers from local churches cooked a huge holiday feast to feed over 200 people in Butler County on Wednesday.
The Mission has been doing both a Thanksgiving Eve and Christmas Eve dinner free for the community for years. It even delivers to those who can’t make it out.
The event brings the community together for a celebration of the holidays.
Shawna Aschoff, director at Morgantown Mission, says, “Today, we have a bunch of different sides. We have turkey and ham, we have green beans, we have sweet potatoes, corn. We have desserts from Mother’s Daughter Cheesecakes, who is local here in town. We do this particular event for the community so that they know that they’re not alone and they are seen, they are loved and they are worthy and they are cherished.”
The Morgantown Mission operates a thrift store, which funds its community activities, including a food pantry that is open Tuesday, as well as helping those in need with their utility bills.
