Bowling Green woman arrested after allegedly veering vehicle off road, fleeing scene

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Bowling Green woman is facing charges in Barren County after allegedly steering a vehicle off the road.

According to a uniform citation, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded to a verbal domestic incident between a woman and her mother on Happy Valley Road on Saturday.

The incident resulted in a vehicle exiting a roadway after the woman allegedly grabbed the steering wheel and jerked the vehicle off the road.

Witnesses told detectives that Asia Austin, 32, of Bowling Green, was arguing with her mother about Austin being intoxicated during a drive between Cave City and Glasgow.

Austin allegedly climbed over the center console, took control of the steering wheel, and steered it off the road.

The vehicle had minor damage.

Austin allegedly exited the vehicle and ran toward Cave City.

Deputies followed tracks and located Austin sitting in a ditch.

Austin allegedly showed signs of intoxication.

Austin was arrested and transported to the Barren County Detention Center.

She is charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place (1st and 2nd offense) and first-degree wanton endangerment.

The investigation is ongoing.
