GLASGOW, Ky. – Barren County High School is proud to announce that Carlie Stephens has been selected as the new head coach of the BCHS Trojanette Volleyball Program.

According to the district, Stephens, a Barren County graduate and former player, steps into the role following the retirement of longtime head coach Robin McMurtrey.

Stephens played for McMurtrey during her years as a Trojanette and has served as her assistant coach, contributing to the continued growth and success of the program. Her experience as both a former player and member of the coaching staff brings a strong foundation and a deep understanding of the program.

“We are thrilled to welcome Carlie into this new leadership position,” said Barren County High School principal Letitia Hughes. “Her connection to our program, her knowledge of the game, and her commitment to our student-athletes make her the perfect choice to lead the next chapter of Trojanette Volleyball.”

Stephens shared her excitement and gratitude, stating, “I am incredibly honored and excited as I step into this role. I’m thankful to not only be coaching at the school I played for, but also for succeeding the wonderful coach Robin McMurtrey, whom I played for and coached alongside as well. Our Trojanettes are some of the most talented and dedicated young women around, and I cannot wait to see our competitive future shine. Thank you to our administration for putting your faith in me, and our players for making coaching so rewarding. I hope to make Barren proud. Fight on!”

Athletic director Warren Cunningham also praised the transition, the district says, noting that Stephens’ commitment to the program and strong rapport with student-athletes will provide stability and momentum moving forward.

Barren County Schools and Barren County High School state they extend their deepest appreciation to Coach McMurtrey for her years of dedication and leadership, and they look forward to the continued success of the program under Coach Stephens’ guidance.
