WKU Player of the Week: Hilltopper men’s basketball guard Teagan Moore

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – After a stellar performance in the Bahamas last week, Hilltopper men’s basketball guard Teagan Moore earned today’s WKU Player of the Week.
The redshirt sophomore delivered one of the most complete performances of all Toppers in the 3-game contest, finishing the week as the tournaments second-leading scorer with 23 points per game.
Moore set a career high in WKU’s loss to a No. 23 ranked Vanderbilt squad with 24 points off a 50% shooting clip from the field, but the very next day, he topped that career high with 27 points against South Florida.
Through seven games for Western this season, Moore is proving to be a vital plyer for the Tops. He currently leads the team in points and blocks while also bringing in the second most boards.
Coming back from an injury that sidelined him for a year, head coach Hank Plona knows just how much Moore elevates this group.
“We’ve known Tegan obviously for a long time and I’m not surprised with the year that he’s having,” Plona said. “He’s a heck of a downhill player, can be a guard and he’s team oriented. The pass he made to Ryan on the Wing for three was a huge play. I think Teagan can be a little bit more of a passing play maker than he’s been, and he’s going to have to because teams are going to really key in on him.”
Most impressively however, Moore is the second CUSA player in the last 30 seasons to have at least 140 points, 40 rebounds, 15 assists, 10 steals and five blocks through his first seven games of a season.
Moore’s name now joins Dwyane Wade, who put up those statistics in back-to-back seasons. (2001-02, 2002-03).
