Man arrested in alleged credit card fraud case in Cave City

CAVE CITY, Ky. – A Texas man is behind bars after stolen credit cards were allegedly used to buy a trailer in Cave City.
According to a uniform citation, the Cave City Police Department received a call Monday evening regarding a person coming to pick up a trailer that had been purchased with stolen credit cards.
Authorities say Trailer Mart sold the trailer to an individual over the phone using two credit cards.
The owner of one of the cards then contacted the business and stated her card had been used to make the purchase, according to the citation.
Police say it was confirmed through the credit card company that the card was stolen.
Upon arrival, police say they made contact with 37-year-old Reinier Almenarez of Houston, Texas.
Authorities say Almenarez stated other individuals paid him $150 cash to pick up the trailer.
Almenarez stated he was supposed to then receive a location to drop the trailer from one of those individuals. Police say they observed several text messages between the driver and individual who made the purchase, along with messages stating the driver had been close to arriving on scene.
Almenarez was arrested and transported to the Barren County Detention Center.
He faces a charge of fraudulent use of a credit card over $10,000 (complicity).
