Community Christmas Tree arrives at SKYPAC

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It’s December, so the Christmas decorations are going up fast in Bowling Green.

On Monday, the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center raised its Community Christmas Tree.

The 25-foot pine is now on display in front of SKYPAC on College Street and will be decorated in time for the Light Up BGKY event coming up this Friday night.

Bowling Green Municipal Utilities lifted and secured the tree in place. They will also help hang the 2,000 lights that will illuminate its branches. It’s just the beginning of the performing arts center’s holiday festivities.

Makenzie Belcher, associate marketing manager of SKYPAC, says, “Christmas at SKYPAC is a very exciting time. It’s a busy time, but that’s how we like it around the holidays. We have so much to look forward to. We have close to seven events this month with fan favorites like ‘Yes, Virginia’ with BG On Stage, we have the ‘Nutcracker’ that will be there.”

Part of Light Up BGKY will be this Friday at 6 p.m. in Circus Square Park, where you will get to see all of the Christmas decorations come alive. SKYPAC will have a Holiday Open House that night, so after the lighting ceremonies, you are invited into the center for sweet treats and warm refreshments.
