Leader resigns from role at Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — On Tuesday, the president and CEO of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, Ron Bunch, resigned.

According to a release by the chamber, over the past 14 years, Bunch’s leadership has strengthened the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce and driven progress across our region.

The chamber states that Bunch’s focus “on collaboration, investment and opportunity has helped make Bowling Green a recognized example of sustainable economic growth.”

During his tenure, the chamber states there have been significant successes, primarily through regional economic development.

The chamber states key accomplishments include the following:

  • Attracting billions in capital investment.
  • Creating thousands of jobs.
  • Earning national recognition as a top-performing economic development organization.

As a result of Bunch’s efforts, the chamber states Bowling Green continues to gain national recognition, ranked the No. 1 Tier 2 Metro in the United States for both 2024 and 2023 and among the Top 6 Tier 2 Metros for 13 consecutive years, according to Site Selection Magazine.

The chamber states it also earned the prestigious Mac Conway Award, recognizing it as one of the Top 20 Economic Development Organizations in the country for the fourth time in five years.

“Through the years I have been fortunate enough to work alongside Ron Bunch on several projects. In every one, I found him to be a passionate negotiator and advocate for our community. I am proud of the work he has done and all he has been a part of building here. I wish him well in his next venture,” said judge executive Doug Gorman

The chamber states it has begun the process of appointing interim leadership and will share further updates in the coming weeks.

“As always, the organization remains tightly focused on our mission to provide valuable services to our partners, advocate a positive business environment and stimulate economic development for south-central Kentucky. The Chamber Board of Directors thanks Mr. Bunch for his service. We wish him continued success in all his future endeavors,” the chamber states.
