Food drives in south-central Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As the government shutdown continues, multiple organizations are reaching out for community support.
Below is a list of nonprofits, churches and other groups that are hosting food drives to serve their local area.
Barren County
- Highland Hills Community Church: The church says it is hosting a food offering donation drive on Sunday, Nov. 2 and Nov. 9. Food may be dropped off at the altar on these dates. Items needed include non-perishables, such as canned chicken, canned tuna, apple sauce, instant oatmeal, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, all pasta and more.
- Community Relief Fund of Glasgow Barren County Inc.: Open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon. Call 270-651-9006 if these times do not work for you. More here.
- Boys & Girls Club of Glasgow-Barren County Pantry and Pennies Food Drive: Wednesday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Donations will be accepted in the front lobby of the Boys & Girls Club at 701 Columbia Ave.
Butler County
- Morgantown Mission: More information here.
- The Kitchen: The Kitchen says it is in need of food to feed Butler County families, serving nearly 180 families each Monday and Thursday. Current needs include green beans, corn, peas, spaghetti sauce and more. Full details here.

Hart County
- Munfordville Girl Scout Chili and Hot Dog Supper/Food Drive: Nov. 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Community Action at 509 A. A. Whitman Lane in Munfordville. Easily opened canned foods, ramen noodles, non-perishables and more will serve as a ticket to the event.

Metcalfe County
- Metcalfe County Elementary School Beta Club Food Drive: Canned good or non-perishable food are being accepted from Nov. 3 through Nov. 20. Donations should be sent to the school at 703 W. Stockton St. in Edmonton.
Warren County
- First Christian Church/FCC Community Grocery: The church is gathering WIC-approved items such as cereal, canned tuna, canned chicken and more. Donations can be dropped off at 1106 State St. More here.
- Warren County Public Schools frozen turkey drive: The yearly drive will take place Nov. 3 through Nov. 14 at the WCPS Central Office at 303 Lovers Lane. Donations will be accepted Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. More here.
