Community partners gather to celebrate Life Navigation Center’s one year anniversary
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Life Navigation Center has been helping Bowling Green’s unhoused community for one year, and on Wednesday, that milestone was celebrated.
The center serves residents through a collaboration among several nonprofits, including the Salvation Army, Hotel Inc., and Room in the Inn. The facility offers a range of support, from providing shelter during extreme weather to access to showers and laundry services.
Wednesday afternoon, community partners gathered to recognize the center’s first year of service. Salvation Army Captain Johnny Horton said the collaboration allows organizations to work more efficiently.
“We’ve always worked together to help people find housing and meet their needs as quickly as possible,” Horton said. “Now, this allows us to do that in one place, with everything we need right down the hall.”
Karen Foley, executive director of Hotel Inc., said the partnership shows the power of teamwork.
“When we come together as a team, the impact we can make is so much greater than any one organization alone,” Foley said. “That’s the beauty of collaboration.”
For those seeking help, the resources can be life-changing.
“I learned a lot about housing, job searches, resumes… you name it,” said Kevin Gardner, a Life Navigation participant. “I got it all through coming to Life Nav.”
The Life Navigation Center is located at 423 W. Main Ave. in Bowling Green.
