Juvenile taken into custody following pursuit into Simpson County

FRANKLIN, Ky. – A juvenile is reportedly in custody following a multi-county pursuit that crossed into Simpson County.

According to the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office, around 6:45 a.m. Sunday, authorities were notified the Westmoreland Police Department was pursuing a vehicle reported stolen out of Nicholasville, Kentucky.

Authorities say the pursuit continued into Allen County, where the Allen County Sheriff’s Office took primary pursuit.

According to authorities, the vehicle later entered Simpson County on Scottsville Road at speeds over 100 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone.

Spike strips were deployed, authorities say, however, the driver swerved to avoid them, striking a road sign before crossing the road and stopping in a ditch.

The driver, identified as a juvenile, ran toward a Marathon gas station before entering the woods, authorities say.

The juvenile was located on Macedonia Road, where the juvenile was taken into custody without further incident.

No injuries were reported.

The juvenile was transported by Franklin-Simpson EMS to The Medical Center at Franklin and later taken to the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center.
