Man charged with fleeing police in Hart, Grayson counties

HART, GRAYSON COUNTIES, Ky. – One man is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing police through multiple counties.

According to a report by K105.com, the pursuit began in Hart County Sunday night and ended in Grayson County.

K105 reports the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office was notified around 7:30 p.m. Sunday of a pursuit on Cub Run Highway in Hart County that was about to cross into Grayson County.

The pursuit allegedly began after authorities observed a Chevrolet Impala with expired registration, which entered Grayson County on Peonia Road minutes later while reaching at least 104 miles per hour.

The vehicle then turned onto Indian Cliff Road in the 9800 block of Peonia Road, according to K105, where the pursuit ended.

The driver was identified as 40-year-old James Butler of Hodgenville. Butler allegedly tried to run but was taken into custody.

Grayson County EMS was dispatched to the scene, and Butler was arrested.

He faces two counts of fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle, on foot), multiple counts of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, resisting arrest, reckless driving, first-degree criminal mischief, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving 26 mph or more over the limit, driving on a suspended/revoked operator’s license and no registration plates along with other moving and non-moving violations.

He was additionally served with a failure to appear warrant. Butler remains at the Hart County Jail.
