LEVY COUNTY, Fla. (WUFT/UGC) – Three people are confirmed dead after a plane that departed Kentucky crashed in Florida on Sunday.

According to the Levy County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, along with the Williston Fire Department and Levy County Department of Public Safety, responded to a plane crash with fatalities.

The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed via X that a Beech 58P plane crashed a mile northwest of Williston Regional Airport in Williston, Florida.

All three people on board were reportedly killed. Those identities have not been released at this time.

The plane went down at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday as it was returning from Kentucky and trying to land for fuel.

Nearby residents say they did not hear the crash, with some only discovering it after seeing smoke.

Authorities say the remote location likely prevented more casualties.

Federal investigators are now working to determine what caused the crash.
