Man charged following vehicle pursuit in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One man is facing multiple charges in connection with a vehicle pursuit that occurred Wednesday in Bowling Green.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department was flagged down on Wednesday by an individual involved in a non-injury collision at the intersection of Collegeview Drive toward Glen Lily Road.

Upon approaching the scene, officers say a vehicle that initiated the collision made a U-turn, fleeing the scene.

Police say they caught up to the vehicle, which continued to flee on Glen Lily Road onto North Sunrise Drive.

Officers say the vehicle then slowed down and turned into a driveway.

The citation states one officer exited the patrol vehicle and gave commands. Due to the vehicle not stopping, authorities say, the officer drew a service weapon and gave commands for the driver to stop, which were not followed.

The vehicle then backed out onto North Sunrise Drive and continued to flee at a high speed, authorities say. Officers say the vehicle then struck a fire hydrant and continued to flee.

Authorities say they identified the owner of the vehicle as 22-year-old Alex Angeles-Casanova of Bowling Green

Police say they were later contacted about Angeles-Casanova’s whereabouts.

Angeles-Casanova’s vehicle was located with front end damage. Police say they spoke to Angeles-Casanova, who stated he panicked after the initial collision and that he had evaded police.

Angeles-Casanova was taken into custody and transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for medical clearance.

He remains at the Warren County Regional Jail on charges of first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), leaving the scene of accident – failure to render aid or assistance and failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, first offense.
