UPDATE: two dead in two-vehicle collision in Warren County

BOWLING GREEN, KY. – Two people have died following a wrong-way crash on Interstate 65 in Warren County.

Kentucky State Police say the collision happened just before 5 p.m. Monday near the 15-mile marker on I-65 northbound.

According to investigators, 80-year-old Garland Johnson of McDonough, Georgia, was driving a 1998 Cadillac El Dorado south in the northbound lanes when he collided head-on with a 2017 Jaguar SUV. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County Coroner.

The driver of the SUV, 36-year-old Mesa Reinier of Hialeah, Florida, was airlifted to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. State police confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Reinier later died from his injuries.

Detective Bo Hubbard is leading the ongoing investigation.
