BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing multiple charges related to a reported domestic incident.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded Wednesday to a residence for a report of a disturbance.

Police say multiple residents had called in stating a male subject was yelling in the area.

Upon arrival, officers say they made contact with the male suspect, identified as 45-year-old Jerry Tipton of Bowling Green, who was sitting in the street. Authorities say Tipton was making incoherent statements during this time.

Officers say the victim stated Tipton began to have changed behavior after she arrived back home a few days ago.

Authorities say the victim stated Tipton had had a gun and knife in front of him and told her he was going to remove demons from her “one way or another.”

The victim stated she had taken the gun into a room and locked the door, but Tipton kicked the door in and yelled about demons and “needing to find God,” according to the citation.

Authorities say the door showed visible damage with a split door frame.

Police say on the victim stated that on Wednesday, Tipton became physical and strangled her before she was able to get free and flee to a neighbor’s home.

Authorities say the victim had visible injuries.

Tipton was taken into custody and transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for medical clearance. He was later lodged at the Warren County Regional Jail, with a report left to receive mental health evaluation.

Tipton is charged with second-degree strangulation (domestic violence related), first-degree unlawful imprisonment, third-degree sexual abuse, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence, minor injury), second-degree disorderly conduct, menacing and alcohol intoxication in a public place, first and second offense.
