Bowling Green Fire Department pursues grants

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Fire Department recently asked the city’s board of commissioners if they could apply for a grant that would require a funding match from Bowling Green government, the board said yes in an effort to preserve and improve public safety.
Deputy Chief Brett Smith said according to multiple studies and personal experience, they know adding an extra set of hands increases the efficiency of the team responding and are trying to build their numbers.
In addition to the S.A.F.E.R grant, BGFD is hoping to purchase an inflatable house to teach fire safety to the youth in the community.
