Outgoing Commander of American Legion honored in Bowling Green

Dozens came together in Bowling Green, Wednesday night, to honor the outgoing Commander of American Legion, Post 23.

Roger Miller is stepping away from his Commander title after 37 years at the helm of Post 23. On Wednesday night, he was awarded several citations from local, state and federal leaders. In fact, the city of Bowling Green named June 27th, Commander Roger Miller day.

Since Miller took over nearly four decades ago, the post has grown to more than 700 members, making it the second largest American Legion post in the Commonwealth. During Miller’s tenure, the post also generated millions of dollars for charities and education initiatives.

Miller says he couldn’t have done it alone

At last night’s ceremony, new officers were sworn in as well.
