BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One man is behind bars after alleged reckless driving on Interstate 165 in Bowling Green.

According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police was dispatched for a reckless driver on Interstate 165 south on Saturday.

Troopers say they received a report that a Cadillac was unable to maintain its lane.

Authorities say the vehicle crossed over the lanes it was in, drove through the median multiple times and almost hit several vehicles. Troopers say they saw the Cadillac almost hit several vehicles on I-165 north around the 1-mile marker.

During a vehicle stop, troopers say the driver and passenger did not have seat belts on, and the odor of alcohol was coming from the vehicle.

Troopers say the driver, identified as 56-year-old Charles Motley of Hopkinsville, denied drinking any alcohol but was slurring his words. Authorities say a preliminary breath test showed Motley at a level of .228.

Following standard field sobriety testing, authorities say they found an open bottle of liquor in the vehicle. Motley was arrested and transported to the Warren County Regional Jail.

Motley is charged with possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited, failure to wear seat belts, reckless driving, second-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree terroristic threatening, first-degree disorderly conduct and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substance, first offense.
