Scottsville man charged after allegedly giving meth to teen

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A Scottsville man is behind bars after authorities say he is accused of giving an illegal substance to a minor.
According to a uniform citation, the Scottsville Police Department received a call through dispatch on Thursday regarding threats made to a 16-year-old male.
Police say the caller stated that 59-year-old Troy Hewitt of Scottsville was demanding for the teen to buy methamphetamine and bring it to him.
Authorities say an officer learned through interviews that the minor had been around Hewitt earlier that day when Hewitt offered him methamphetamine, which was accepted.
Officers say the teen stated he and Hewitt then both smoked it.
Police say after finding Hewitt, he confirmed the teen’s statement.
Hewitt was arrested and transported to the Allen County Detention Center.
He is charged with unlawful transaction with a minor, first offense – illegal substance, under 18 years of age.
