Bowling Green High School brings home Rocket League state title
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Purple Reign and Purple Migraine played their hearts out this season, bringing home the second state title in program history.
E-sports is a growing trend in the world as we know it, and schools all around the globe are jumping on board. Bowling Green High School’s E-sports team started in 2018 and has been an avenue for those who might not want to play a conventional sport but still want to be part of a team.
This year, BGHS faced Beechwood and Montgomery County in the final and semi-finals, winning 4-0 in the 7 game series semi-final and 4-3 in the championship match.
Coaches David Farmer and Omar Moncayo Vazquez said they want to give every opportunity they can to students to find a path to success, and this is just another way to support those students who might not want to be in traditional sports.
Purple Reign and Purple Migraine are a tight-knit group and some of the best gamers in the country. The team is flying high on that state win and gearing up for nationals this summer.
