Man charged with DUI following collision in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A man is facing multiple charges after an early morning collision in Bowling Green.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department observed a vehicle parked in a parking lot just after 12:40 a.m. Wednesday that appeared to be involved in a collision near the intersection of Campbell Lane and Westpark Drive.

Police say they spoke to a subject in a nearby parked vehicle that stated they had been in a collision with the other party.

Officers say the subject stated he had a green turn light and attempted to turn when the other party passed through a red light, colliding with his vehicle. The subject stated there was little damage, according to police.

Police say they spoke to the other two subjects involved in the collision, identifying the driver as 22-year-old Erik Ixcotoyac-Tzoy.

Officials say the driver stated he was struck by the other vehicle at the intersection. During this time, police say Ixcotoyac-Tzoy had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages coming from him.

Officers say they conducted Standard Field Sobriety Tests.

Ixcotoyac-Tzoy was placed into custody and transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for medical clearance.

According to police, he stated he had consumed around seven beers and had “partied too hard.”

Ixcotoyac-Tzoy was transported to the Warren County Regional Jail.

He is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first offense, no operators – moped license and failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, first offense.
