Hospitality meets competition at annual Hospitality Olympics in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky – On Tuesday, the Sloan Convention Center transformed into an arena of friendly competition as dozens of hospitality professionals from across the region gathered for the annual Hospitality Olympics.

Participants put their skills to the test in quirky, fast-paced events like the towel folding contest, soap stacking, toilet paper toss, bed-making race and the critically-acclaimed bed bug toss.

While the activities brought plenty of laughs and lighthearted moments, the event was ultimately about celebrating the people behind the scenes who keep the hospitality industry running smoothly.

From hotel staff to restaurant teams, the Olympics were a chance for hardworking professionals to showcase their talents and have a little fun doing it.

“You’ve got to thank the people doing the hard work,” said Michael Nunn, general manager of SpringHill Suites and president-elect of the Southern Kentucky Hospitality Association. “We do our best at the properties, and while everyone has employee incentives, this event brings together teams from different places. It’s about camaraderie, meeting people from across the region, and sharing stories. It connects us beyond just our individual hotels.”

The Hospitality Olympics is hosted each year by the Southern Kentucky Hospitality Association as a way to recognize and reward excellence in the local hospitality community.
