Guthrie and McConnell introduce bill to expand Mammoth Cave National Park boundaries
MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. – A major expansion could be coming to Mammoth Cave National Park, as lawmakers are pushing a bill to add more land to the tourist attraction.
Earlier Thursday, Sen. Mitch McConnell and Congressman Brett Guthrie introduced the Mammoth Cave National Park Boundary Adjustment Act.
This bill would give the park the ability to acquire more than 551 acres of land from the nature conservancy.
The goal is to protect the Green River watershed, boost local tourism and preserve the region’s wildlife and history and also help grow the economy by supporting jobs and attracting more visitors.
