Tractor-trailer fire, avocado spill shut down portion of I-65 North

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A tractor-trailer fire closed a portion of Interstate 65 North on Friday morning.
Kentucky State Police public affairs officer Katan Parker says a tractor-trailer carrying avocados caught fire. The avocados spilled, blocking the roadway.
Alvaton Fire Department says it responded to the scene just after 4 a.m. at the 17-mile marker. Upon arrival, the department says the trailer was fully engulfed, but the fire was quickly brought under control.
Units remained on scene until noon to assist with cleanup and traffic control. Plano Fire Department additionally responded to the scene to assist with the water supply.
No injuries have been reported at this time.
According to a social media post by the Alvaton Fire Department, the spill shut down two lanes. The lanes reopened at approximately 8:10 a.m.
