UPDATE: Body of McCracken County man found in floodwaters

KEVIL, Ky. – The body of a missing McCracken County man has been recovered after he was swept away during flooding.

According to the Kentucky State Police, the body of 27-year-old Lee Chandler of LaCenter was located in the floodwaters Monday, April 7.

KSP says he was last seen around 3:45 p.m. on April 6 in Kevil when he was swept away by floodwaters as he tried to retrieve his boat.

Troopers say law enforcement and other emergency services used all available resources, including boats and drones, to search for Chandler.

KSP is reminding the public to use extreme caution and avoid flooded areas. Never drive, walk or try to swim into floodwaters as the conditions below the water are unknown and flood currents are often much stronger than they appear on the surface.
