Man allegedly steals ambulance with firearm inside

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A man allegedly stole an ambulance in Bowling Green on Sunday morning.

The Bowling Green Police Department says it responded to 546 Nathan’s Rim Way after receiving a call from a paramedic that an ambulance had been stolen with a firearm inside.

Police say the vehicle was located nearby.

Medical Center Emergency Medical Service provided officers with dash cam video. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

Officers later received a welfare check on a man asleep in a hallway at 518 Nathan’s Rim Way on Sunday.

Officers say Dylan Reece, 25, of Bowling Green, matched the description of the suspect in the theft of the ambulance and firearm.

Reece allegedly told officers he was “trying to save some lives.” He also told police the ambulance was unlocked and running and he wanted to listen to the radio.

Police say Reece later told them he did not take the ambulance.

Reece was arrested and transported to the Warren County Regional Jail on charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition $10,000 < $1,000,000 and theft by unlawful taking or disposition of a firearm.

Reece remains lodged at the Warren County Regional Jail.
