Man charged with vehicular homicide following fatal Taylor County crash

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – State police are investigating a fatal collision in Taylor County.
Kentucky State Police say troopers responded to a two-vehicle collision with injuries at the intersection of Meader Street and Handley Avenue in the city limits of Campbellsville on Sunday afternoon.
KSP says the investigation determined Howard Poling, 78, of Campbellsville, was driving east on Handley Avenue when he attempted to cross Meader Street to continue driving east on Coakley Street.
Police say Poling failed to see a moped traveling north on Meader Street. The driver, Johnny Dickens, 56, of Campbellsville, was struck.
Dickens was pronounced dead at the scene by the Taylor County Coroner’s Office.
Poling did not sustain injuries in the crash.
Police arrested Poling on charges of Vehicular Homicide, DUI 1st Offense (Aggravated Circumstances), Possession of an Open Alcohol Beverage Container in a Motor Vehicle and
other traffic offenses.
Poling is lodged at the Taylor County Detention Center.
