Glasgow breaks ground on new farmer’s market
GLASGOW, Ky. – A long-awaited project is finally coming to fruition in the downtown area of Glasgow, and dozens are excited about it.
Local leaders ceremonially broke ground today on a new building that will serve as both a farmer’s market and community center for Barren County.
Sarah Shirley, a vendor and small-time farmer in Glasgow said “it’s hard on a farmer to grow all week, then pack everything to town and if it’s a cold rainy day, no one is coming, but you have product…” this new market aims to alleviate this issue.
The Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture also attended the groundbreaking, telling participants that he is proud that the Kentucky Agriculture Department could help support the project and is excited for the community, which will be able to take advantage of the new space.
