Kevin Jackson speaks at Black History Month celebration at the Capitol Rotunda

FRANKFORT, Ky. – A crowd gathered Thursday to celebrate Black History Month in the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort, and a local leader gave his remarks celebrating the month and accomplishments many Black Americans have contributed to Kentucky.

State Rep. Kevin Jackson was recently announced as the chair for the Commission on Race and Access to Opportunity. Jackson spoke to Kentucky’s accomplishments in equality and creating a better life for all Kentuckians.

“These measures, along with countless others, showcases how the Commonwealth learns from its past. We examine the barriers that generations have faced and work together in order to ensure that no matter if you are young or old or or rich, black or white, you can proudly call Kentucky,” Jackson said at the Capitol Rotunda.

Jackson also spoke to the importance of education calling it ‘the great equalizer’ and the advancements made for all Kentucky students.
