Agriculture Awareness Luncheon showcases industry with Logan County ties
RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – Farmers and business representatives packed the Logan County Extension Campus Thursday for the Agriculture Awareness Luncheon.
The over 300 participants feasted on a meal from local farms and heard agriculture commissioner Jonathan Shell talk about the importance of the industry and its future in the state.
Leann Martin, agriculture and natural resources agent with the Logan County Extension Service, says, “Agriculture is the foundation of all living. What we eat, what we wear, how we live. It’s all based in agriculture. And today we want to appreciate those farmers that bring those products. As consumers, we want to appreciate where those come from.”
Even the ice cream bowls came from a local company making their own products from corn stalks.
A country ham was also auctioned off for over $13,000, and the money will be used to help send kids to the 4H camp.
